Why was CatCup chosen?
I chose CatCup because I thought it was a cutesy animation that reflected what it was like to own a cat.
What was used in the animation?
The animator, Nellyaa, had used quite a bit of artist elements and principle of design such as, line, shape, pattern, color, space, form, emphasis, movement, contrast, variety, and light/shadow. The artist had used them to create a more life-like animation while still making it look 2D and hand drawn. But still used color to make it interesting, light/shadow to show dimensions, contrast and variety to create clothing and fur, emphasis when looking at the cat about to jump, movement when the cat does jump, and space between the cat and the human. Line, shape, and pattern were used to create the setting, characters, and story.
Connections?
I own a cat and have to deal with stuff like the animation on a daily basis because my fluffball is always hungry. When a cat gets hungry they will relentlessly meow and bug you until you feed them or leave the house.
Sound/Music?
The animator had use sound and music to bring the story to life, become more plausible and interesting instead of a boring no-audio animation where it doesn't pull anyone in.

This animation looks as if it were created by hand due to the style but there was no information pertaining to what type it was other than it was 'Traditional'.
Why was Red chosen?
I enjoyed the art style and the little kid romance but with the sudden action. It was a small animation that was cute and done very well.
What was used in the animation?
Although the color were basically shades/tones of red, some white, and some black, it still had color, light/shadow, and contrast. The animation also used movement when the little wolf boy was running towards the unicorn/rabbit; value when coloring the children, animal, and setting. Lastly, the animator had used line, shape, and form to create the entire animation because to even drawn anything you need lines, and to create people you need shapes and forms.
Connections?
I don't have many connections to this due to it being fantasy other than the feeling of rejection. Everyday everyone gets rejected by something or someone, whether it be not getting your spot at a table, your favorite food, getting called on in class, or even not getting accepted by someone you care about.
Sound/Music?
There wasn't much sound used other than ambient and walking/running. Plus some small sound effects for certain times. They had used music throughout the entire thing and made Red come to life with it.

Why was Magic Clay chosen?
I've always enjoyed watching people's claymation/stop motion animations because I know that they put so much work into such small animation. I liked Magic Clay because it is simplistic as a video but complex as a project. The video, when just watching it, is a simple idea and story but the actual making of it was complex and difficult if you really think about it.
What was used in the animation?
Due to this being stop motion/claymation there isn't many element and principles this animation hits. It does hit light/shadow, perspective, balance, color, form, space and movement. The animator incorporates light/shadow with the large lights behind the camera you can hear being turned on and off during the entire video. Perspective is used by the camera's placement. Balance is used by using 3 clay colors at the end instead of 2 to create a balance of colors. Color is used within the clay and so is form and space. Space is used to give the clay pieces a plane to go on. Lastly, movement is used by the bouncing, sliding, and flying of the clay throughout the animation.
Connections?
I don't have any connections to this animation due to it really not having much of a story and just being something for fun and enjoyment.
Sound/Music?
Sound effects are what makes this entire animation so great. They are spot on and edited very well. They create life within the animation by giving sounds to the objects that the animator creates to make it more enjoyable to viewers.

Why was The Wishgranter chosen?
I've always enjoyed romantic things so when I saw this video I instantly liked it. The story is interesting and keeps the viewer staying until the end.
What was used in the animation?
There are so many things used in this animation to create this CGI animation. Such as, light/shadow, movement, balance, line, shape, pattern, form, color, space, emphasis, perspective, and contrast. Line, shape, form, space, contrast, pattern and color were used to create setting, characters, and storyline through multiple aspects such as buildings, trees, the fountain, the shooting star, the clothes on the people, and the brightness of the coins and street lamps. Emphasis was used on the color of love with its bright red coloring. Perspective changed a bit but it was used throughout the entire animation. Movement and balance were used to create life within the animation. To make it seem more life-like and interesting. Movement was used on the people when moving, on the shooting star, and the flowers. Balance was used to make the story.

I don't have any connections to this animation other than loving romance and wishing wishing fountains worked.

Why was Alarm chosen?
People always have trouble getting up early to go anywhere, so Alarm was chosen because it is relatable and the CGI used was fantastic. Also there are some funny parts throughout the animation.
What was used in the animation?
To create the animation the animators had to use line, shape, color, form, space, movement, proportion, value, contrast, light/shadow, and perspective. Movement was also used to add life to the animation instead of just having a single still image showing nothing moving. Emphasis was also used when showing the gun the character used to shoot the alarm clock.
Connections?
I don't enjoy getting up early so I connect with the main character in this short by not wanting to do anything in the mornings even when alarm clocks are ringing.
Sound/Music?
Sound and music are used to bring life, and annoyance, to the viewers. Sounds were used to bring life to the alarms and character. And music was used as an alarm and as just a background.

Why was Clouds chosen?
I chose Clouds because it reminds me of my childhood and being able to imagine anything, even flying and being able to control the clouds. The child reminds me of what I used to do, hang in the background imagining random stories.
What was used in the animation?
The animation was hand drawn/2D animation so the usual line, shape, form, color, pattern, space, movement, proportion, contrast, value, and light/shadow. All of these are used to create the animation and give it life such as darker clouds, clouds, the sky, the shadows from the trees, the change from dry to wet hair, and the movements of the girls body through the air.

Childhood connections with the little girl that was imagining being able to control the clouds.
Sound/Music?
The music gave life to the animation. Making the animation feel more child-like and it catches the attention of the viewers. The dialogue at the end gave a nice sort of twist because it wasn't seen throughout the animation but it did help with the story. The sound effect of the water hitting the girl's head is funny.
